Susie and Donna were married at the end of December last year at the stunning Liverpool Town Hall and it was a fantastic way for me to end the year!
I knew it was going to be a brilliant day right from our first meeting where we talked more about dogs than weddings, and their pre-wedding shoot which we did at Thurstaston Commom with their kids, Garry & Maddie (who you’ll be seeing a lot more of soon!)
I knew that their day was going to be fun, lots of fun! Susie and Donna are so laid back and their friends and family are the same. Everyone just seemed to laugh all day, especially the happy couple who are like two love struck teenagers in each others company. They both light up when they look at each other, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Their big day started at the Grade 2 listed 30 James Street, formerly the head office of the Cunard White Star Line, home of the Titanic. The girls had separate rooms on different floors so I got a great workout running up and down stairs! Both were really calm yet looking forward to seeing each other and enjoying the excitement that was to come. All the kids were buzzing about like little bees, giddy with excitement and Garry was given the role of ring-bearer, a job he embraced with maturity and pride.
From the hotel we set off in Annie, a vintage camper van, for the short drive to the ceremony. The Town Hall was looking as amazing as ever, maybe even a little more so as the Christmas tree was still up! We headed upstairs where Donna walked down the aisle with her dad and step-dad before waiting excitedly for Susie to arrive. The look on her face when her wife-to-be entered was just gorgeous. The ceremony itself was really lovely, plenty of giggles and smiles, which is not surprising with these two!
Luckily for me, Susie and Donna had designated a good chunk of time for portraits and specifically asked if we could go to Goodison Park, as they are both huge Everton fans and play football themselves. So, after a few portraits near the Town Hall and a glug of champagne each we jumped in the van and headed off, me, my assistant and two videographers! Even as a Liverpool fan I have to say I really love the shots we got at the home of the Blues!
From there it was back to James Street to celebrate with their guests who were all enjoying a glass of bubbly whilst waiting in the roof terrace bar. The White Star Grand Hall at 30 James Street looked amazing, the room for the wedding breakfast was decorated beautifully and so much thought had gone into all the details from the place settings and cake right through to the spectacular Mrs & Mrs sign! After a delicious vegetarian meal we had hilarious speeches from both dads, Donna’s brother, Donna herself, and Garry and Maddie who gave a lovely reading to their mums.
And as if the day hadn’t been brilliant enough we then did a spot of bed bouncing, sparklers, cake cutting and then some energetic dancing and singing along with the band! Phew!!!!
Anyway, I don’t think my words can actually do justice to this day, just take a look for yourself, I’m much better with photos! Before you do though I suggest you get a brew before you settle down, it’s a bit of a mammoth post!
Mrs & Mrs Callaghan Swann, thank you for being so bloody awesome! I love you and your little family to bits and can’t wait to see you all again (vegan lunch maybe?) xxxxxxxx
