Royal Liver Building wedding photography
So happy to FINALLY share Melanie & Jim’s stunning wedding from last summer at the iconic Royal Liver Building!
It was such a fantastic day, starting at Mel’s mum and dad’s house where all the girls were getting ready along with Tilly, cutest dog ever! The ceremony was held at the local church which was beautiful, then we made our way into Liverpool (stopping off for a photo-shoot in the Baltic area) for the celebrations at The Venue at the Liver Building.
Here’s Melanie to tell you about their big day, in her own hilarious way! Haha!
“I thought I’d be a nervous wreck as I’m completely highly strung, but I was uncharacteristically chilled out and just so excited to marry my best mate. The day went wonderfully, perfect from start to finish, if I ever had to have a Groundhog Day I would live it over and over again!
My favourite bits were the ceremony, the photoshoot in the Baltic, sitting at the top table and watching all of our guests love and talk to each other. Then I loved having a dance with my grandad who can’t really walk, but he got up on his feet purely for me and we danced! Apparently it was the American smooth, who knew! Then my first dance with my love. THEN going home in a taxi with my new husband to our house which was covered in doughnut wall carnage and balloon confetti. Dreamy.
ALSO BY THE WAY… We had this absolutely amazing photographer called Emma who was amazing from start to finish. I felt like I’d known her all of my life from the minute we met; then on the day she was absolutely perfect and captured the day in exactly the way that we wanted. Can’t thank her enough for being there and photographing our special day, would highly recommend!!!
The details!
THE DRESS – It was from Liverpool Bridal Boutique, I can’t thank the staff enough. Honestly, I went in there on a whim with one of my bridesmaids and my mum because they had a Trunk Show for Stella York (which I was actually unaware of prior to the event!) I tried on quite a few… which I liked, then there was one on the hanger which I thought ‘Nahhhh that’s not me’ and Jane persuaded me to try it. I came out and there were TEARS! My mum and Alex knew it was the one and so did I. Thanks also so much to Steph and Lin who found me the most beautiful veil that was everything I ever dreamed of, EVER.
Jim’s Suit – NEXT – all the staff in the Liverpool store were insanely accommodating, especially as it was around the races that we were trying to sort it. I didn’t think I’d ever spend that much time in NEXT ever, especially not that hungover. Kudos to the staff for dealing with my hungover pre-wedding stress face, you were angels.
Bridesmaid Dresses – These beauties we had seen on a shopping trip in late 2017, we loved them so much but they were so expensive, they were from Coast. So my trusty bridesmaid Amy was (naturally) on the sales on Boxing Day and found their dream dresses at a reduced price. When you’re dealing with 6 girls who are all completely different shapes and sizes – I couldn’t believe we found the perfect dress. Everyone commented on how beautiful the dresses were, despite being an untraditional deep green for summer!
Cake – We bought from M&S – just a classic cake! 3 tiers and then I bought the cake topper and decorations from eBay!
Decorations – SO, we basically did all of these ourselves. I had Pinterested the shit out of everything about 12 months before and then ordered everything from China super cheap! It was quite a bit of work, but so so worth it. Jim made the doughnut wall LITERALLY THE NIGHT BEFORE what the hell (my house was a tip). Anyway, it turned out absolutely perfect, we were going to B&Q to get wall filler or something and he was like LET’S DO IT! All of the signs and everything like that for the Prosecco station, the pick and mix and the welcome sign, me and my best mate Leah made (whilst drinking gin in the garden in the sunshine… purely to help them to dry of course). The giant golden rings with the floral wreaths wound around them, were us as well, we’d seen it on Pinterest so we did a budget version with gold sprayed hula hoops and some fake flowers! We also did the same sort of job for the tipi with ‘Just Married’ on it.”
I bloody LOVE Melanie’s description of the day, so eloquently put, I was laughing my head off reading it!
Thanks Mel, you’re a bloody STAR! And thank you to you and Jim for having me there for such a wonderful celebration! Mwaaaaah! xxxx

WHAT. A. GUY. Honestly he got everything down to a tee, not to mention he was just generally boss and took the time to come over and congratulate both of us, being recently married he knew the joys but also the stresses of the day. He was absolutely brill.
Scott (Up All Night – Band) – scott@novicreativeco.com
These were absolutely great with all of our requests, they had their own set list but were happy to learn new songs to make our day perfect. They brought the evening guests in with such an amazing set – we couldn’t have been happier!

Really good – everything went smoothly!
Liz Crampton (Florist) – www.flowersbyelizabeth-liverpool.co.uk
Liz was so incredibly accommodating, I’m obsessed with flowers and already knew exactly which ones I wanted but she advised me with her florist’s expertise to create the perfect bouquet and centerpieces and top table display. Such a warm and lovely person who is extremely talented, everyone commented on my bouquet and I was so proud holding it! The perfect bridal accessory.
Paul (Videographer) – https://madisonpicture.co.uk/
Was so wonderful, so kind and lovely when I felt a bit weird doing a pensive look out the window. We were last minute with the video but I am SO glad we did it, the footage is amazing and captured just how wonderful the day was. I could watch it every day! (If I didn’t bore the life out of people around me!)
