Last year I was lucky enough to shoot at a new venue, Ashfield House, not once but twice in the space of a few weeks. Now both of those weddings are two of my faves from 2024!
Ashfield House is an award winning, family run wedding venue in Standish, Wigan. Situated just off the M6, close to the borders of Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside. It’s just a 45 minute drive from my house in Liverpool!
The house is set in beautiful gardens, it’s grand yet homely, impressive but laid-back. It has 15 guest bedrooms and couples take over the venue exclusively for their wedding day.
The team at Ashfield House clearly love what they do and make everyone, couples, guests and suppliers, feel welcome! The food is also incredible and I’ve been so well looked after on both my visits!

Sarah & Chris’s beautiful autumn wedding at Ashfield House
My first wedding at Ashfield House was last October and it was an absolute stunner! To be honest I always knew this wedding would be fab as I’ve known Sarah for a few years, I’ve shot about 5 of her friends weddings I think!
Sarah and her crew got ready upstairs in The Sitting Room while Chris and his groomsmen were just down the hall so I could run between the two before the ceremony!

Ashfield House wedding ceremony
The Ceremony Room at Ashfield House is a versatile space where couples can put their own stamp on it. As it was October, Sarah & Chris opted for autumnal colours of red, orange and dark green. Sarah’s beautiful red hair was the icing on the cake for me, she looked like a Hollywood movie star from the 50’s!

Couple portraits
The gardens at Ashfield House are absolutely stunning and Sarah & Chris were lucky enough to have beautiful autumn sunlight for most of the day! We spent about 20 minutes walking round (I don’t like to take my couples away from their guests for too long) and got some lovely, relaxed and colourful portraits.
We also took a few minutes to grab some shots later on. The sofa at the top of the staircase is a lovely, cosy little spot to chill out for a bit before the party starts!

Speeches and dancing at Ashfield House
The wedding breakfast room is a big, bright space overlooking the gardens. It can fit 120 for the meal and plenty more for the party! There are also a couple of other bar areas where guests can relax, so it really does have everything you need!
Dog friendly wedding venue
As if Ashfield House wasn’t brilliant enough as it is, it’s also dog friendly!
Sarah & Chris are just as obsessed with their dog Arthur as I am about my Cooper. So, it was only natural that he was in attendance for such a big day! The handsome little chap was there for the ceremony, expertly looked after by Annabel from Pawfect Occasions dog chaperone. He then hung around for some photos afterwards. How cute does he look?!

Jenni & Andy’s gorgeous winter wedding at Ashfield House

The second wedding I was lucky enough to be part of last year was Jenni & Andy’s in November.
Another stunning wedding with a lovely couple and their dog, Jack!
J&A did the legal bit a couple of weeks before their wedding day which meant they could have a celebrant led ceremony. This enabled them to make the ceremony a lot more personal to them and Connie from Wit & Wonder did an amazing job! She did a deeply moving and emotional ceremony that also managed to be loads of fun! And she stuck around all day to MC and help me with group shots. I even saw her having a boogie later on!
Here are some highlights from their big day at Ashfield House, from getting ready to sparklers in the evening!
